The weather was a very unsettled during the morning when they were setting up the Fete and everyone feared that rain was on the way. But the show must go on. It was not long before the church was surrounded by attractive stalls and a bouncy castle. A few braved eating their picnic outside while others retreated into the church and by 2pm the fete was in full swing.

The sun shone and the showers never really materialised. People were greeted by Jan and Fiona selling icecreams. The church yard was a hive of activity with stalls while inside the church teas were served and books were for sale. During the afternoon many peope came to look around the church or relax with a cuppa and slice of one of the many homemade cake. Outside people tried their luck at the side stalls or raffles. There were many bargains to be had at the bric a brac and plant stall. To liven up the day, Pimms was on sale after which you could try your skills at the coconut shy or one of the many side stalls.

During the afternoon there was a display by the Crow Karate club . We all enjoyed watching them showing off their skills. They entertained us with their amazing kicks and moves. Finally one of the team broke a thick piece of wood with one mighty blow.
Many thanks to Dominic and all the other members of his team for giving up their Saturday afternnoon to come and entertain us with such an impressive display .
This was followed by a much more gentle demonstration of T'ai chi.
Dominque runs both these clubs which are held on Tuesday and Thursday in Woodnesborough Village Hall. For more details contact Dominic Shawcross on 01304 614201
Many people came and enjoyed the Fete some who had never been to St. Mary's before, fun was had by all and £990 was raised for church funds. The church should have more activities in the beautiful grounds which are a wonderful resource.
Our thanks to everyone who helped and supported the event.
